Savery helps himself

By Mark Etheridge - March 25, 2007

The two-way player not only settled down for a 1-2-3 second inning, he rapped a two-out two-RBI single to give Rice a 3-2 lead.

We also got a wakeup call a few moments ago. While Pete Taylor Park is undergoing construction to their pressbox, we are located down the leftfield line just beside the bullpen. USM leadoff hitter Trey Sutton just sizzled a liner straight at us going just over the heads of the seated media. No one made a play on the ball - not even the official scorer who mercifully did not give anyone an error.

3-2 Rice in bottom of third.
