Andy Simunic and Tony Delmonico each got one-out singles in the top of the ninth off southpaw Will Stroup. J.P. Arencibia smacked a Josh Copeland to center to score Simunic.

Alabama escaped further damage with a sharp double-play turn as Jake Smith scooped a short-hop, fired to second where Jeff Texada made a quick turn and strong throw to first.

Bottom of the ninth at 7 up.
