Ugly and over - Cats win 7-5

They can't all be classics. After watching Vanderbilt beat Ole Miss in ten innings Friday evening in one of the best games of the season, a trip to Lexington could have merited the same result. But instead of hitting Rupp Arena for two down-to-wire NCAA hoops games, the target was Cliff Hagan Stadium where Kentucky beat Arkansas 7-5 in a game that went four hours and fifteen minutes (without playing the bottom of the ninth), saw Kentucky walk 13 batters and Arkansas leave 17 men on base while committing five errors. To call it sloppy would be giving it too much credit.
"It is unbelievable that we won considering we walked (thirteen) guys, said Kentucky head coach John Cohen. "That is unbelievable. You never win when that happens."
"Any time you win your first league win it is important for everybody," Cohen said. "We have got to use young arms to get outs in key situations and we did that today."
"We really needed to bounce back and get something positive going," said Wildcat first baseman Sawyer Carroll. "Not a whole lot of things went right for us. We battled hard and showed a lot of character. We had a lot of relievers come in and do a great job.
