Bombs Away
By Doug Kroll - April 18, 2007
Well they said that last Sunday was a launching pad for homeruns here at the park, today is no different. South Carolina is pouring it on here in the third inning, with three bombs here in the frame, and the fourth of the night...
It seems like everything that the Gamecocks hit goes out of the park. It's almost true. For the third time this year, the 'Cocks have four homeruns in a game, and we're only in the third inning. USC knocked Zoltak out with two homeruns in the first three batters in this frame.
Justin Smoak then greeted new pitcher Matt Vaughn with an absolute moonshot over the centerfield fence for the fourth solo homer of the game.
Surprisingly it's the first time all year that USC has gone back to back in the homerun department. Before Smoak, it was James Darnell hitting the 13th homerun of his season.
It's quite funny, now that these fans are used to the longball, when a S.C. player swings and misses, a loud 'Ohhhhh, ahhhhh' goes up from the crowd.
Now, now, don't get greedy.
