FSU: Game 3: One for the road

By Michael McGuffee - April 22, 2007

Nothing but blue skies and baseball here in Tallahassee for game three of Florida State and North Carolina. The Seminoles have held the upper hand in the series so far, with the exception of a four-run sixth inning that almost cost them game two. After taking the first two matchups, the 'Noles are a perfect 6-0 in Atlantic Coast Conference series this season.

The Tar Heels have tweaked their lineup for game three and will lead off with first baseman Reid Fronk, followed by center fielder Seth Williams. Right fielder Tim Fedroff, who started at the plate for UNC in the first two games will bat ninth.

Pitching for Florida State will be junior Ryan Strauss (8-0), the Seminoles second undefeated pitcher behind Bryan Henry (10-0), in his eleventh start of the season. UNC will send sophomore right hander Luke Putkonen to the mound.

North Carolina has made the transition to navy blue shirts and white pants in this one, while the Seminoles will sport all-gold uniforms with garnet trim, hats and socks.

Fans are in good showing here at Dick Howser as the Seminoles look to secure the three-game sweep, while the Tar Heels hope to at least steal one on the road trip.
