Houston: Lormand dazzles "crowd"
By Amber Obermeyer - April 13, 2007
Houston second baseman Ryan Lormand has the play of the game early in this one, as he ranged to the outfield grass toward first base to make a great back-handed grab, turn, and throw to first in time to beat Jared Gayhart, who runs well.
But the more interesting story of the top of the third inning, if you ask me, was Aaron Brown on the mound. After throwing a total of 38 pitches in the first two innings and giving up three hits and some hard-hit outs, he threw just 12 pitches in the third and all three outs were non-threatening.
A pitchers' duel is emerging here at Cougar Field, but not many are here to see it in person. Not sure if the national TV broadcast is keeping people at home or if the threatening weather scared people away, but I would estimate that only about 400 or 500 people are here to see what is a pretty important C-USA series.
