LEXINGTON: Commodores extend lead

By Chris Lee - April 15, 2007

Vanderbilt's hitting the ball hard in the ninth, and has already plated another run to extend its lead to 7-4.

Dominic de la Osa led off by getting a ball up in the stiff wind to right-center, and what should have been a harmless fly ball just kept carrying. Center fielder Antone de Jesus tried to leap when he may not have needed to do so, and the ball careened off the top of the wall and towards center.

De la Osa wound up on third easily, and Ryan Flaherty smacked a ball over the first wall in right, but the ball hit the big wall behind it, which is in play. Flaherty got a double out of it, and de la Osa easily scored.

That's all for James Paxton, and now UK"s John Cohen is pulling the unorthodox play of moving Tyler Howe from catcher to the mound. Howe pitched in JUCO ball, but has yet to throw an inning this year.
