LEXINGTON: Dombrowski issues a walk, and other strange things

By Chris Lee - April 15, 2007

Normally a one-out walk would not be noteworthy of a blog entry, but when it's Greg Dombrowski, it is.

The UK right-hander just walked Matt Meingasner for his first walk of the game, and fifth of the season in 50 innings. Last year, Dombrowsk had a streak of 42-consecutive innings

Now, Vandy's Alex Feinberg just hit what looked like a harmless ball to second, but with John Cohen's bizarre defensive alignment, a second baseman was not close enough to make a play. Meanwhile, the UK outfield defense was playing him more to pull, and the ball dribbled to the wall where Antone de Jesus slipped on the warning track trying to field it.

That allowed Meingasner to score, and John Cohen must know that Dombrowski was tying with the rare walk, becuase freshman Duran Ferguson is in to pitch.

5-4 Vandy, Commodores batting with a man on second and one out in the top of the sixth.
