NASHVILLE: Alvarez, de la Osa bust out

By Chris Lee - April 07, 2007

The slumping Pedro Alvarez, down 0-2 to Alabama's Bernard Robert, watched three balls and fouled off a couple of pitches before launching a ball about 410-415 feet to right-center and out of Hawkins Field, giving Vandy a 1-0 lead.

Unfortunately, David Macias was thrown out stealing two pitches prior, depriving the Commodores a run.

As a write, No. 3 hitter Dominic de la Osa launched a ball about that far as well, a towering shot to left-center in the at-bat that followed.

So it's 2-0 Commodores with one out in the third. The way the 'Tide have hit of late, and the way Mike Minor looks for Vandy today, that could hold up.
