NASHVILLE: Avila goes deep

No. 5 hitter Alex Avila just led off the second by taking Nick Christiani deep to right field on a 1-2 pitch, putting Alabama up 1-0 on Vanderbilt. It's Alabama's ninth hit of the weekend, and just the second extra-base hit of the series, the other being Greg Paiml's double down the line yesterday.

Christiani battles back to get a ground-out on the next at-bat.
