NASHVILLE: Christiani gets help from his "D"
By Chris Lee - April 22, 2007
Vandy's Nick Christiani gave up a double to Julio Borbon to lead off the fourth, then walked Tony Delmonico.
Cleanup hitter J.P. Arencibia inexplicably tried to bunt on the first pitch unsuccessfully, and eventually grounded out 1-3. Vandy's Tim Corbin ordered an intentional walk to Yan Gomes to load the bases with one out and a pitcher struggling with his control on the mound, a move that I thought was curious given that Danny Lima had hit into one double play al year.
No matter... Lima tapped the first pitch right to Pedro Alvarez at third, who fielded, took one step on the bag and fired a laser to first for a 5-3 inning-ending double play.
Vandy's David Macias just singled sharply to left to lead off the bottom of the fourth, but Alex Feinberg hit a laser to Julio Borbon in center for out one.
5-5, Commodores hitting with one out and a man on first in the bottom of the fourth.
