NASHVILLE: Christiani's done

Vandy's Nick Christiani was removed with two outs and a man on second in a tie game for lefty Cody Crowell, who got lefty Julio Borbon to ground to first to end the inning and keep the score tied at 6 here in the eighth.

I mentioned Vandy's problems with Sunday starters earlier after Stephen Shao was bombed... Christiani had that role until another disastrous performance in Lexington against Kentucky last weekend. Today, he pitched 5 1/3 innings, giving up just one run on a homer to J.P.Arencibia, and by my count, just one hit otherwise with a couple of walks and hit-by-pitches thrown in.

UT's Jeff Lockwood has registered two quick outs here in the eighth, so it looks as if we may head to the ninth tied at 6.
