NASHVILLE: Hit barrage

By Chris Lee - April 08, 2007

Vanderbilt came back with a vengance to take the lead against Alabama in the fourth, and some clutch pitching by Tommy Hunter kept it from being worse.

Matt Meingasner led off with a single, then Shea Robin hit one deep to the gap in left-center that nicked left fielder Brandon Belcher's glove, but got down for a double, scoring Meingasner.

Alex Feinberg followed by bouncing a single up the middle to score Robin, and Brad French blooped a single to left to give Vandy runners on the corners, then stole second.

David Macias popped to short, prompting 'Bama's Hunter to intentionally walk Pedro Alvarez to pitch to Dominic de la Osa with the bases loaded. De la Osa tapped a weak grounder to Jake Smith at third for out three.

2-1 Commodores, heading to the fifth.
