NASHVILLE: Lockwood keeping the Vols in it

By Chris Lee - April 22, 2007

UT brought closer Jeff Lockwood on in the third, and the lefty's getting it done today at Hawkins Field.

It hasn't necessarily been pretty, as Lockwood has stranded at least one every inning and gotten some hard-hit outs. But the score's tied here as we go to the eighth after UT starter Lance McClain gave up five in the third because Lockwood and Vandy's Nick Christiani, who also relieved a starter in the third, have been so effective.

Lockwood's longest outing has been six innings this year in a similar situation against Alabama, relieving early and keeping the Vols in a game they eventually won in 10 innings.
