NASHVILLE: Paiml keeps 'Bama in it

By Chris Lee - April 07, 2007

Dominic de la Osa slammed a one-out double to left to give the Commodores second and third with one out in the ninth for cleanup hitter Ryan Flaherty.

Flaherty smashed a ball that looked for everything like it would get through to score two runs. But Alabama shorstop Greg Paiml, playing unusally shallow to cut off a run at the plate in case of a ground ball, made a diving grab on the infield grass to snare the line drive in the air, and Josh Copeland got Shea Robin to ground weakly to third for the third out.

It's still Vandy 4, Alabama 2 as Cody Crowell takes the hill for the Commodores again in the top of the eighth, facing No's. 3-5 Emeel Salem, Kent Matthes and Jake Smith.
