NASHVILLE: Pitcher's umpire

I'm not saying that Tony Manners' judgment is bad, but it's obvious that tonight's home plate umpire is a pitcher's umpire.

Both Vandy's James Adkins and Vandy's David Price made a nice living near the corners of the plate in the first inning, and just about anything that looked as if it might be a strike was. As a result, both teams went 1-2-3, with both Price and Adkins recording strikeouts (Price's other two were tappers back to him).
