NASHVILLE: 'Tide takes game three

By Chris Lee - April 08, 2007

Vandy's David Macias laced a one-out single to center, then Pedro Alvarez took a four-pitch walk.

That brought Dominic de la Osa to the plate. De la Osa, who had homered and walked, struck out on a beautiful 2-2 change-up from Austin Hyatt for out two.

That brought the slumping Ryan Flaherty (1-5) to the dish. With the middle of the infield playing in the outfield, Flaherty squared to bunt, taking strike one, then took a couple of balls, then fouled one back to the screen, then struck out on a fastball to end the game.

'Bama wins 5-3, thus escaping being swept by the Commodores for the first time since 1986. The Commodores left 16 men on base, something that surely won't please coach Tim Corbin.
