NASHVILLE: Vandy adds more

By Chris Lee - April 06, 2007

Vandy's Shea Robin added an RBI single to score Alvarez, then on Alex Feinberg's ground-out to first, a hustling Ryan Flaherty was going all the way from second. First baseman Matt Bentley didn't see him for a split-second, and when he did, catcher Rhoden couldn't handle a throw to the plate that probably wouldn't have been in time anyway.

That put Robin on third, and Matt Meingasner struck out. But the damage was done, and the Commodores have a 3-0 lead.

Perhaps just as importantly, 'Bama star Tommy Hunter came on in relief in the eighth. With Jim Wells struggling to find a third starter with Brandon Belcher unable to pitch, Hunter is the only good candidate for Wells to start on Sunday. However, that appears unlikely as Hunter threw about 18 pitches in the eighth.

Vanderbilt 3, Alabama 0 as Price trots out to pitch the ninth for Vandy.
