NASHVILLE: Weathers on

By Chris Lee - April 22, 2007

For the third-straight day, Tim Corbin has summoned Casey Weathers in the late innings for Vanderbilt.

Weathers relieved Cody Crowell, who walked leadoff hitter Tony Delmonico in the ninth with one ball to J.P. Arencibia. His pickoff throw to 5-foot-8 first baseman Brian Harris sailed into the photographer's well to put Delmonico on second, and Arencibia's ground-out got Delmonico to third.

As usual, Weathers bore down to strike out Yan Gomes and Jeff Lockwood (the second with a change-up on which Lockwood had no chance after getting blown away with about a 99 MPH heater on the previous pitch), sandwiching a two-out walk to Danny Lima in between.

So, the Commodores, who have won four of five SEC series but have yet to get the elusive sweep, go to the ninth against their in-state rivals in a tie game.
