Oxford: Bringing in the closer
By Chris Kieffer - April 22, 2007
With the offensive pace of this game, South Carolina turned to closer Wynn Pelzer to try to stop the damage.
Ole Miss got a two-run home run from Kyle Mills, the sixth home run of the game (also to left), a single by C.J.Ketchum and an RBI single by Jordan Henry to tie the game.
Pelzer needed six pitches to end the threat.
Since I've been typing South Carolina SS Reese Havens just hit a home run to right field. It was Havens' second home run of the game and South Carolina's fifth long ball in the first four innings, the first time this season they've hit five in a game.
South Carolina leads 9-6 in the top of the fourth.
Pelzer's longest outing of the year is three innings. He hasn't pitched two innings in an appearance since March 25, but he did throw nine innings as a starter last year.
