Oxford: Rebels answer with singles

By Chris Kieffer - April 22, 2007

Ole Miss also got three hits in the bottom of the first. Unfortunately for the Rebels it only led to one run.

Most of the Rebels hits all season have been singles (to the tune of several games with only one or two extra base hits) and that was the case again in the first when singles by Justin Henry, Zack, Cozart and Logan Power yielded one run.
Ole Miss brought the tying run to the plate when Zach Miller was hit by a pitch to load the bases, but Kyle Mills struck out swinging at an outside fastball to end the rally. It drew protests from several Rebel fans who had issues with the two called strikes.
South Carolina shortstop and nine-hole hitter Reese Havens just hit the Gamecock's third home run of the game.
6-1 Gamecocks Top 2nd.
