Oxford: Rebels break through

By Chris Kieffer - April 21, 2007

In his 10 starts this season, Ole Miss' Lance Lynn has gotten an average of just 3.4 runs of support.

He just got two in the fifth inning as Ole Miss leads 2-0 going into the sixth.

It was three Rebels who had been struggling who led to thre three runs. Second baseman Zach Miller was 0-for-4 with four stikeouts yesterday and 0-for-5 on the weekend before leading off the fifth by blooping a single to center. Designated hitter Kyle Mills entered with a .257 average but singled to right to put runners on the corners.
First baseman C.J. Ketchum (.245) then took an inside pitch the other way, bouncing a single ofver first baseman Justin Smoak to score Miller and put pinch runner Fuller Smith on third.
Catcher Brett Basham (.228 average) then got his 19th RBI of the year with a sac fly.

The crew came on to drag the field with Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline" playing and Lynn has now retired two Gamecocks with Travis Jones batting in the sixth.
