Rice: Lembeck delivers

By Amber Obermeyer - April 17, 2007

Right-fielder Chad Lembeck, who entered today's game with a .330 on-base percentage and the same slugging percentage, drove in two more runs for Rice by ripping a double that was baaaarely fair down the third-base line.

Lembeck is generally a fastball hitter, so it was especially impressive to see him get such a big hit against a soft-throwing, side-arm left-hander like Keith Shinaberry.

The book is closed on Chris Kelley, who did everything Wayne Graham and the Owls could have asked from him tonight. Scott Lonergan (3.38 earned run average in 24 innings) will attempt to maintain Rice's four-run lead, although his outing might be limited to the three batters beforel the top of the Longhorn lineup (read: slew of left-handed hitters) comes to the plate.
