Rice: Pitchers' duel continues

By Amber Obermeyer - April 17, 2007

Augie Garrido had a quick hook--probably rightfully so--with starter Austin Wood, pulling him after a Jess Buenger single through the left side of the infield scored Joe Savery from second.

Texas third baseman Bradley Suttle made a great diving stop on a sharp Diego Seastrunk grounder down the third-base line and got up in time to edge Seastrunk at first, limiting Rice to one run in the inning. Seastrunk pinch-hit for starting catcher Danny Lehmann after Garrido brought in right-hander Pat McCrory in relief of the lefty Wood.

Chris Kelley continues to impress for the Owls, demonstrating probably his best command of the season in walking one and striking out six through five innings. Kelley has allowed just three hits (as have the Texas pitchers), touching 90 on the radar gun and consistently throwing in the high 80s.
