Rice: Savery homer extends Owl lead
By Amber Obermeyer - April 17, 2007
First baseman Joe Savery has been really hot at the plate in recent weeks, and that streak continued today with an opposite-field (I love it!) home run against Texas reliever Hunter Harris. Rice now leads 7-4.
Harris struggled in the rest of the inning as well, walking two before Randy Boone came in to get the third out of the inning.
In a very surprising upset, Wayne Graham is out-Augie-ing Garrido tonight. With a runner on first and none out, second baseman Jess Buenger, who has a .528 slugging percentage and has been by far the Owls' best hitter over the last few weeks, bunted. In a sign that God is on my side in this debate, Buenger's bunt was popped up and caught by catcher Preston Clark.
