San Diego: No Record Today, USD Wins

By Jason Owens - April 13, 2007

Steve Winnick has taken the mound in the top of the ninth, ending Matusz's quest for the single-game USD strikeout record. Overall though, it was a pretty good day for the USD ace. He leaves the game with a 15-1 lead, zero earned runs, four hits allowed, 13 strikeouts and 77 strikes on 107 pitches. Consider me impressed.

Meanwhile Winnick retired the side with two strikeouts to end the game, securing the 15-1 win for the Toreros to maintain their hold on second place in the WCC behind Pepperdine. The buzz is already active around the matchup in two weeks when the Waves come to town.
