ACC: Aaaaaaand we're done!

By Glenn Tanner - May 24, 2007

Florida State pounded Wake Forest 11-2 in the nightcap of the ACC Tournament. Final pitch? 12:50 a.m., a mere 14 hours and 44 minutes after the first pitch of the day.

This wasn't a thing a beauty. It started with Michael Hyde walking the bases loaded in the first and Wake scoring a run without a hit.

But Hyde settled down and FSU eventually woke up, sending 10 batters to the plate in the fourth and plating five runs to take the lead for good. Buster Posey finally busted it wide open with a bases-loaded triple in the eighth.

The Noles actually left the bases loaded in the 8th, frustrating a press box full of media hoping that the a mercy rule ending would get them home sooner.

Mark Hallberg had three of the Noles' 14 hits, with every starter getting at least one.

Every FSU starter also scored, led by Tony Thomas with three runs.

Hyde lasted six innings and allowed only four hits and two runs.

Dustin Hood had two of Wake's seven hits.

Tomorrow's only a two-game day:

Virginia vs. Georgia Tech at 4 p.m.
North Carolina vs. NC State at 7 p.m.

Now off for some sleep...
