ACC: Day three wrapup
By Glenn Tanner - May 25, 2007
First, here's the schedule for tomorrow:
10 a.m. Georgia Tech-NC State, in the only game that means nothing to the tournament title
Followed by UNC-Virginia...
Followed by Clemson-FSU...
Followed by Miami-Wake Forest
Let's tackle Bracket B first because it's easy. The winner of the Virginia-UNC game will advance to Sunday's title game.
Florida State, Miami, Clemson, and Wake Forest are all 1-1 in Bracket A. If two teams are tied for first, head-to-head is the tiebreaker.
To advance to Sunday's title game...
FSU needs a win and a Wake Forest win
Clemson needs a win and a Miami win
Miami needs a win and an FSU win
Wake needs a win and a Clemson win
"It's a great format still, no matter what. Miami just took us to the woodshed. We're going to throw Bryan Henry tomorrow, and Wake Forest is capable of beating anybody in the country, so it will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow *IF* we can beat Clemson." -- FSU coach Mike Martin
"You always like to control your own destiny, but we got beat soundly, so maybe we don't deserve to control our own destiny." -- Martin
"Eric Erickson is a very, very impressive pitcher. He's poised, he's got good stuff. He locates well. He's a guy I'm not looking forward to facing the next two years." -- Martin
"It's fun to watch [Erickson] pitch. Every time after the game, the umpire says, 'Man, this guy's fun to umpire behind,' because he hits his spots, and it's pretty easy to umpire when the guy hits his spots." -- Miami coach Jim Morris
"I didn't have my best stuff, but I was able to locate and hit my spots." -- Eric Erickson
After the final games ending at 12:50 a.m. and 1:15 a.m., it's only 10:45 p.m. and I'm done. I don't know what I'm going to do with myself for the next few hours.
Not that I'm complaining...
