Packy Elkins drew a one-out walk from Jacksonville starter Justin Young (5-5, 3.17 ERA). Wilson Tucker then plated Elkins with a double to give Belmont a 1-0 lead.

Belmont starter Ben Meador (5-4, 3.90) gave up a two-out walk to Jacksonville's Kevin Ferreira in the top of the second. Matt Lopez drove him in with a single.

The score is tied at 1 heading into the bottom of the second.
