A-Sun: Mercer Shows Signs of Life

Struggling on the mound and in the field, Mercer responded with its bats to tie the score at 1 in the bottom of the third.

Mercer's Eric Renfore belted a double to the fence in right-center for the hardest hit of the young tournament. That moved lead-off batter Matt Crawford, who reached on a one-out single up the middle, to third. Josh Thompson then tied the game with a sacrifice fly to deep center.

Now, let's see if Mercer pitcher Brantley New, who has thrown 54 pitches in three innings, can hold Gardner-Webb.
