A-Sun: TD, 2-Point Conversion Give Belmont Lead

By Bryan App - May 23, 2007

Oh wait...wrong sport. The eighth inning did seem about as long as a nationally televised college football game, though, and we're talking pre-3-2-5e.

Belmont more than answered Jacksonville's five-run rally, taking a 12-7 lead with an eight-run inning.

Thirteen Bruins batters stepped to the plate in the bottom of the eighth, making for combined total of 24 hitters in the inning. Of course, this would be totally acceptable if this were a different, more extreme brand of ball.

The first five Belmont batters reached base and scored in the inning, and another three scored before Jacksonville could record the second out. My head hurts just thinking about this.
