A-Sun: What Was That About the Mercer Bats?

By Bryan App - May 23, 2007

I don't know if Mercer has a laptop and a WIFI connection in the dugout, but the team clearly took notice of my last post. The Bears used two big hits and a little small ball to tie the score at 2 in the bottom of the fifth.

Mercer third baseman Steven Karwatt redeemed himself with a lead-off single to center. A sacrifice bunt moved him to second before Eric Renfroe drove Karwatt in with a two-out single to center.

And after a scoreless Gardner-Webb sixth, the Bears are threatening with runners on first and second with one out, the product of two singles.

Stay tuned.
