Big South Game 2 ... Winthrop vs. High Point

By David Cloninger - May 23, 2007

So Winthrop goes into the ninth with a 6-1 lead and leaves with a 6-5 win. I know I said the bullpen was struggling, but this is ridiculous.

High Point batted around in the ninth and scored four runs, having the tying run on third and the go-ahead on first before Josh McDonald mercifully got Max Gantner to ground into a fielder's choice groundout. The Eagles had the third out hung up between third and home ... and let him score because catcher John Murrian interfered.

6-5 Winthrop, final ... VMI and Liberty on tap at 8 p.m.
