Chapel Hill: Slugfest Continues

By Kenny Cook - May 13, 2007

After a 12 run, 5 home run second inning for the two teams, Georgia Tech went quietly without scoring in the 3rd.

UNC has evened the score at 7-7 with another big inning. Following a one out walk to Seth Williams, UNC had four consecutive singles (Fedroff, Johnson, Fronk, Gore) to even things at seven apiece. The Tar Heels left the bases juiced when Dustin Ackley fouled out and Tim Federowicz hit into a force play to end the inning.

Luke Murton just bounced a chopper to first base that was ruled foul by the first base umpire. After a heated argument by Tech coach Danny Hall, the home plate umpire overruled the play and gave Murton a hit. UNC coach Mike Fox is now angrily arguing his point and once again there is an umpire's meeting.

The sun has now come out and is beaming down. It's nearly as hot and muggy as a general admission seat at Rosenblatt Stadium in June. It's gonna be a long game...
