Cowboys Answer Tigers Early Call
By Tristan Threlkeld - May 20, 2007
The first inning brought some excitement to the game with the Mizzou Tigers taking a 1-0 lead when Evan Frey scored on a Aaron Senne RBI groundout. Frey started the game off with a walk and moved to second on a steal, but Cowboys catcher Ryan Pittman overthrew the second baseman to move Frey over to third.
The Cowboys would not let the Tigers get away with an early lead. Senior Keanon Simon continued his hot streak against the Tigers by going 7-10 so far with his seventh hit coming in the bottom half of the first. Jordy Mercer took a hit across the hands to put runners on first and second. Ty Wright flied out to right to move Simon to third and then scored on a Tyler Mach RBI single to tie the game 1-1. Corey Brown was next to the plate and received a walk to load the bases. Rebel Ridling strolled to the plate looking to damage but settled for an sac-fly RBI to score Mercer and move the Cowboys into the lead 2-1.
At the end of one Cowboys lead the Tigers 2-1.
