Cowboys beat the Shox

By Tristan Threlkeld - May 15, 2007

Jordy Mercer and the Cowboys got the Shockers to go 1,2,3 to end the ninth and grab the win 3-1. The game was a tight one all the way and the Cowboys should feel lucky a few calls went their way.

With the win I am going to give a little SHOUT OUT to the committee to give the Cowboys are hard look at hosting a Regional this season. The Cowboys have swept their last two Big 12 opponents in Oklahoma and Texas Tech, they also just beat the #12 team in the nation in the Wichita Shockers.
The Shockers are great team with great pitching. If the Cowboys can take the series against Missouri, which the Cowboys have the good fortune of playing them at home. I mean if a team finishes second in the Big 12 and finishes the regular season ranked in or near the top 10, they should host a regional. The Big 12 may not be the best conference in the nation, but it ranks right near the top with the likes of the ACC and SEC. Here's to the committee making the right choice.

Back to the game at hand. The Shockers pitching staff got the Cowboys to strikeout and strikeout often. The Shockers got the Cowboys to go down 13 times tonight. But somehow someway the Cowboys found a way to win and that was thanks to senior second baseman Tyler Mach. Mach hit the go-ahead runs with a deep line shot to center. The Cowboys did get 11 hits off the Shockers, but they also left 11 runners on base. The Cowboys big sticks did not come to play today, but the little ones did and that is what ultimately won the game for them.

The final from Eck Park/ Tyler Field OSU 3, WSU 1.
