C-USA Tournament: Energetic Dowdy first to congratulate

By Ronnie Woodward - May 26, 2007

ECU's emotion-filled starting pitcher Josh Dowdy bolted out of the dugout to chest-bump reliever Bailey Daniels after he preserved Dowdy's and ECU's 5-4 lead.

Tulane led off the bottom of the seventh with a single, and Jason Neitz came in for Dowdy. Daniels later relieved Neitz with 2 outs, after Tulane scored on a SAC fly, and had cut the lead to 5-4. Daniels got Tulane leadoff man Cat Everett to flyout in the infield with a runner on third, and Dowdy, with a towel draped around his head, was excited to say the least.

Daniels has been ECU's lifesaver in this tournament, He has appeared in all three games now, and has got the Pirates out of many jams.

ECU 5, Tulane 4 in the 8th....very good game!
