C-USA Tournament: Problems in the outfield

By Ronnie Woodward - May 26, 2007

ECU scored 3 runs in the top of the first against Tulane, but only got 1 hit and the runs didn't come off a 3-run homer, how can that happen?

Well...after Harrison Eldridge led off with a walk, miscommunication between Tulane's left fielder and center fielder allowed Ryan Wood to reach second on a error by the left fielder. Stephen Batts then extended his hitting streak to 25 games with a 2-RBI single, and Tulane right fielder slipped, allowing Batts to move to second on the error. Kyle Roller then plated Batts on a groundball that got by Tulane second baseman, for another unearned run. At this point, the Pirates have 3 runs, but no hits.

The couple thousand of ECU fans that are in attendace have something early to cheer about, contrary to the first 2 ECU games of the tournament.

Tulane is coming to bat in the first, maybe their offense will be better than their defense. The Green
Wave commited 3 errors in the first inning.
