C-USA Tournament:Injured players not in lineup

By Ronnie Woodward - May 25, 2007

Southern Miss's best player and team leader, Trey Sutton, is not in the starting lineup again tonight. A Southern Miss spokesman said that Sutton subluxed his kneecap, and playing status for the rest of the tournament is still uncertain. You have to feel so bad for this kid, he hit a home run in his first at-bat of the tournament and has a 21-game hitting streak, but it looks like he might not be able to extend his hitting streak until next season.

To put the Sutton injury into perspective, the Godlen Eagles' leadoff hitter leads the team in every major offensive category except for home runs, is 12-for-18 in stolen base attempts and has a .995 fielding percentage. Southern Miss played very well without him last night, but it has to be a major blow not having a kid like that in the lineup.

Tulane will be without outfielder Warren McFadden. McFadden rolled his ankle yesterday trying to beat out a ground ball at first base, rolling his ankle on the bag. McFadden is second on the Green Wave in RBI and home runs.

Southern Miss and Tulane will start at 6:30 p.m.

USM is pitching David Clark (8-4, 4.46 ERA)

Tulane is starting Brandon Gomes (6-6, 4.13 ERA)
