MVC: Creighton Bats Warm First
By Jean Neuberger - May 26, 2007
I'm getting a kick out of this game so far. The fans may be small in number, but they are doing some SERIOUS trash talking, and it's a riot to listen to from up here.
Creighton has become the team of singles, as base hits from Andrew Small and Robbie Knight put runners at the corners with one out. Ross Sinclair then laced a single to left to score Small and give the Jays the first run of the game. Gene Stephenson had a short leash on Hutson, and he pulled him in favor of RHP Kyle Touchatt. The switch didn't fare any better, as Darin Ruf hit a bouncing ball up the middle to score Knight, giving the Jays a two-run cushion for Pat Venditte to work with.
The trash talking continues, and it's great. The Shocker fans outnumber Creighton's by about 20-1, but the Bluejay boosters are holding their own in a verbal battle of wits in the stands.
2-0 Creighton as we head to the fourth.
