MVC: Creighton Extends Lead

By Jean Neuberger - May 24, 2007

Just like the fifth, CU started with a Steve Winklemann walk. And, just like the fifth, it was Michael Lam's at-bat that led to a Creighton run.

This time, Winklemann advanced to second on a sac bunt by Chad Ogden, and then advanced to third when Wright's pickoff attempt found its way into center field. Lam singled right up the gut to center, and Winklemann brought the tiny Bluejay crowd to its feet, as Creighton now holds a 2-0 lead as we head to the eighth.

Most of the time in college baseball, a two-run lead is never safe. However, the way this game has gone, two runs is a blowout of a lead.
