MVC: Crisis Averted for Banwart

By Jean Neuberger - May 23, 2007

I give credit to Missouri State so far. They've played scrappy, and they're making WSU pitcher Travis Banwart work the count for all its worth. The Bears got a single from Josh Mazzola to start the top of the fourth and were able to advance him to third base, but couldn't get him home, as Banwart struck out Kyle Paul on a 2-2 fastball.

With the game being this close, the fans are really getting into it, which has been fun to watch. The MSU fans are either clapping or heaping piles of grief on the poor home plate umpire (who so far has called a good game), while the Shocker fans are waving signs, banging tambourines, and waving gold rally rags with every good Shocker play. It's a very good atmosphere to close out the day's proceedings here at Hammons Field.

Shox up to bat in the bottom of the fourth. They've been outhit 5-4, but they're leading Missouri State 2-1.
