MVC: Dirks Carrying Wichita

By Jean Neuberger - May 25, 2007

Andy Dirks has really stepped it up tonight for the Shockers.

In a critical situation, with runners on second and third and two outs, Dirks singled past the third baseman and into left field, bringing home two HUGE runs in Josh Workman and Bret Bascue, and extending Wichita State's lead over Evansville to 4-1.

Evansville's fans, to their credit, never stop cheering for their team. They are loud and boisterous, but that hit really deflated them, as they know their Aces have a lot of work cut out for them.

The Wichita State fans are singing away during the seventh inning stretch, sensing a championship series birth is ahead of them tomorrow afternoon. Anthony Capra heads back to the mound in the bottom of the seventh, hoping to keep his new three-run cushion in tact.
