MVC: Error Proves Costly

By Jean Neuberger - May 25, 2007

With Josh Workman on first, having been hit by a pitch, and just one out, Tyler Weber hit a routine grounder to shortstop that should've resulted in a double play to end the inning. However, Robbie Minor booted the ball, all runners were safe, and Andy Dirks made the Aces pay with a single to left field, scoring Workman.

The need to play error-free baseball in the postseason can't be emphasized enough, especially for a team like Evansville. While Wichita is a lock for the NCAA Tournament, the Aces likely need to win the whole thing to get to a NCAA Regional.

The bottom of the Evansville order is up in the bottom of the fifth, with Wichita now leading it 2-1.
