MVC: Finally, the Title Game!

By Jean Neuberger - May 26, 2007

After a 90 minute rain delay, we are set for baseball here in Springfield, as Gene Stephenson and his #1 Wichita State Shockers look to claim their 16th MVC Tournament title. Standing in their way are Ed Servais and his #2 Creighton Bluejays, winners of 24 of their last 27 games.

After all the upsets going on in college baseball, here we have it the way it should be: #1 vs. #2

Wichita State will be the visitors, and they're decked in black today, while Creighton will be the home team and wear their royal blue tops.

As said before, WSU will sent Max Hutson (1-2) to the mound, while Creighton's Pat Venditte (8-2) will make history in minutes by being the first ever switch pitcher to start a game.

We're set to go here at Hammons Field, as Lonestar's "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" is being played for the last time over the PA system. It's the ONE song that no one's been tired of listening to...I have to admit, it hasn't come close to wearing me down yet. The other songs though...no more. Please. Ever.

Here we go...the 2007 Missouri Valley Tournament is underway!
