MVC: From Joy to Oy! CU Ties It

By Jean Neuberger - May 23, 2007

Creighton finally got the best of Shawn Joy.

Joy walked Darin Ruf on four straight pitches to open the bottom of the fifth. Andrew Small then hit a high bouncer down the third base line that bounced over Lou Johanns's head and into left field for a double, sparking action in the Saluki bullpen. Then, in the biggest cheer of the day, Steve Winklemann blooped a single into right center field to score Ruf and Small, tying the game at five apiece.

SIU took Joy out, replacing him with LHP Daniel Wells. Joy had a five-run cushion that just didn't hold up, and the book isn't closed on him just yet.
