MVC: Gillaspie Break Scoreless Game

By Jean Neuberger - May 24, 2007

It's been a long time coming, given how the first day went in this tournament, but we have our first run of the day. It happened in the top of the fourth, as WSU 3B Conor Gillaspie sent a high fly ball to left center that, with the help of a brisk wind blowing out, bounced off the top of the wall and over the Cox Health sign, bringing a roar from the mass of fans in gold along the first base line, and giving the Shox a 1-0 lead.

It's the first home run for Gillaspie since April 8, 2007 (vs. Creighton). He's got six on the year for the Shockers this season, which ties him for third best on the team.

SIU hopes to answer in the bottom of the fourth, as Rob Musgrave attempts to hold on to his one-run cushion.
