MVC: Not-So-Early Birds
By Jean Neuberger - May 23, 2007
Southern Illinois continues to do damage in the second on CU's Marc Lewis.
With one out, Lou Johanns hit a screaming liner into right field to get the Salukis going. Kevin Koski singled right under the pitcher's legs and into center field, putting runners at first and second. After Aaron Roberts moved the runners up, Adam Hills hit a scorching double down the left field line, scoring both Johanns and Koski. Mark Kelly then followed with a single to left that got under the glove of Bluejay LF Andrew Small. Kelly ended up at second, and Hills scored with ease, giving SIU a 5-0 lead.
It ends a very quick day for Lewis, as RHP Jimmy Swift has come in for Creighton. We're still in the second, but SIU is just taking it to the Jays early. I don't think Creighton's fully awake just yet either, as they're reacting slow to every ball hit by the Salukis. They better wake up soon, or else this is going to get even uglier.
