MVC: Now Wichita's Three Outs Away
By Jean Neuberger - May 27, 2007
First, Creighton was three outs away from the tournament title, but Wichita scored the tying run to send it to extras. Now, the Shockers are three outs away from their 16th tournament crown. Matt Brown drove Andy Dirks home on a fielder's choice to short, so the lead for Wichita State is now 9-6 as we head to the bottom of the 11th.
This is gut-check time for both teams. Creighton's got to dig deep and find one more rally in them, while Wichita must find it in them to shut the door on this tournament, capping off a fantastic run through the loser's bracket.
Noah Krol bunted safely in the top of the 11th. He'll now face the bottom of the Creighton order in order to win the biggest game of his season.
