MVC: Pitcher's Duel Early

By Jean Neuberger - May 25, 2007

Sorry for the delay here, but I just concluded an interview with the tournament director for a story that will be appearing later on tonight.

We're scoreless...and hitless, after 1 1/2 innings of play though between the Shockers and Purple Aces. Evansville is going with LHP Kai Tuomi (10-3, 2.85 ERA), who's shown to be pretty fresh in his second tournament start. After all, he wasn't around long for the Bradley game on Wednesday. Wichita is also going with a southpaw, as they've sent Anthony Kapra (6-0, 1.61 ERA) to the mound to shut down the Aces.

The Evansville fans are on the third base side (they're the home team this game), and they are as loud and boisterous as ever. In fact, their energy has stirred some spirit from the Wichita side, who doesn't like being drowned out by a smaller contingent.
